🌿 Have you ever been told to stop being so emotional?

Maybe someone said you were overreacting, too sensitive, or needed to “focus on facts instead of feelings.”
It starts small—little comments that seem harmless… but over time, they begin to chip away at something sacred.

And then one day, you catch yourself wondering:
Is something wrong with me because I feel things deeply?

Friend, hear me clearly—because I’ve wrestled with that same question:

Your emotions are not a weakness. They are not the enemy.

💡 Emotions Are Messengers, Not Mistakes

Your feelings are evidence that something inside your spirit is stirring.
They are signals—clues—that something matters.

Sure, emotions don’t always give us the full truth of a situation…
But they do reveal the truth of what’s happening in you.

📖 What Scripture Really Says About Emotions

Let’s be honest: Scripture is often misunderstood when it comes to feelings.

We hear verses like:

  • “Do not be anxious about anything…” (Philippians 4:6)

  • “In your anger do not sin…” (Ephesians 4:26)

  • “Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry…” (James 1:19)

And we think the Bible is saying, “Feelings are bad. Shut them down.”

But if you look closely, the Bible is full of raw, real, emotion-soaked stories:

  • David wept and danced before the Lord (Psalm 6:6, Psalm 30)

  • Elijah was so overwhelmed, he asked God to take his life (1 Kings 19:4)

  • Hannah wept bitterly over her infertility (1 Samuel 1:10)

  • Jesus wept (John 11:35), flipped tables (Matthew 21:12), and was moved with compassion (Luke 7:13)

God never punished them for feeling.
He met them there.

💖 God Isn’t Asking You to Hide Your Heart

When Scripture talks about peace, patience, or self-control (Galatians 5:22-23), it isn’t asking you to numb out.

It’s an invitation:
Bring it all to Him.

Because the command isn’t, “Don’t feel.”
It’s:

“Bring your feelings to God, and let Him meet you in them.”

Let Him refine your emotions—not repress them.

✨ You Were Made in the Image of a Feeling God

Think about it:

  • God grieves (Genesis 6:6)

  • God rejoices (Zephaniah 3:17)

  • God loves with compassion that never fails (Lamentations 3:22-23)

You are made in that image.

You’re most fully you when your emotions lead you toward God, not away from Him.

🌸 Dear Daughter, Let This Be Your Breakthrough

If anyone’s ever made you feel like your heart disqualifies you from faith, let me remind you of this:

God doesn’t ask you to hide your heart.
He asks you to hand it over.

You’re not too much.
You’re not broken.
You’re becoming.

And your heart?
It was never the problem.
It’s the beginning of breakthrough.

💬 What about you?

Have you ever felt like your emotions were “too much”?
What’s something you’ve learned from letting yourself feel deeply?

Share in the comments—I’d love to hear your heart. 💛
